My goal for this project was to create a 4 minute 33 second sound that would keep the audience engaged and wondering. I wanted them to wonder what they had just heard, what they were hearing, and what they might hear next. During some points in the track, I wanted to speed up the tempo and sounds. While at other times, I wanted to have a calm and relaxing environment. Even though some points during the track are slow, I didn’t want those slow parts to be boring. I stuck to around 20 sounds that I mixed and mashed together to create the piece. It was interesting testing out how different sounds interacted with each other. I used some effects like echo, reverse, and telephone effect to create some dimension to these sounds. I found that while I was editing, it sometimes got repetitive, so I wanted to switch it up by using these effects. This was my first time using Adobe Audition, so it was interesting to test out different ways to portray sounds. I have experimented with video editing before and I feel like audio editing was pretty similar. This helped me understand and get the hang of mashing sounds together. I also have always loved music, so it was fun to create something of my own using sounds that probably wouldn’t have gone together. This audio assignment helped challenge me to explore a new type or art.
